ABOUT THE PLANT
Sansevieria, also known as the snake plant, is a great indoor plant for a variety of factors. It is simple to maintain, has attractive and resilient foliage, and can withstand low light, dry air, and infrequent watering. Snake plants are well known for their capacity to purify the air and eliminate pollutants, making them an excellent choice for enhancing the quality of the air indoors.
CARE TIPS
Light: Snake plants prefer bright indirect light, though they can tolerate low to bright indirect light as well. Avoid the sun's direct rays because they can burn the leaves.
Water: Snake plants prefer a dry environment, so wait until the soil is completely arid before watering. Avoid letting the plant sit in standing water as this can cause root rot from over watering.
Soil: Snake plants prefer a soil that drains well, so pick a potting mix made especially for cacti or succulents.
Temperature: Snake plants can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, but they prefer temperatures between 60 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit (15 and 29 degrees Celsius). Additionally, they favor low to moderate levels of humidity.
Fertilizer: Snake plants don't need much fertilizer, but you can feed them once or twice a year with a balanced fertilizer.
Maintenance: To encourage new growth, regularly remove any dead or damaged leaves. Snake plants can also be easily multiplied through leaf cuttings or division.
Re-potting: Every two to three years, or whenever the plant outgrows its pot, snake plants should be re-potted. Use a potting mix that drains well and a pot that is one size larger than the current one. Plant the plant in the new container after carefully removing it from the old one and loosening the roots.
Propagation: When planting the rooted cutting, make sure to use a well-draining potting mix and keep the soil consistently moist. Water it thoroughly after planting and place it in a bright, indirect light location. With proper care, the new plant should begin to grow and thrive.
